Title: The development of the energy sector in the DRC and Zambia: a promising electric battery project
Introduction
The energy sector is at the heart of global concerns, with a growing need for sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. With this in mind, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and sister republic of Zambia have joined forces to develop an innovative electric battery project. During two days of great exchanges, entrepreneurs, authorities and investors met at the Rotana hotel to discuss this ambitious project and the prospects for wealth that it could offer to the region.
The forum: an unmissable event
The forum, which was held from September 20 to 21, was an opportunity for stakeholders to share their perspectives and knowledge on wealth creation in the battery value chain and the mining industry in general . National authorities, including the Zambian Minister of Mines, Paul Chanda Kabuswe, as well as members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the DRC, participated in this high-profile event.
The different sessions of the forum addressed topics such as local processing, the valorization of mineral resources, operating standards, and even the African vision of battery metals. Unfortunately, the session on interministerial dialogue could not take place, but this did not detract from the richness of the debates and exchanges which took place during these two days.
The objectives and challenges to be met
The event concluded with the closing of Vuko Ndondo Kakule, DGA of the Congolese Battery Council, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry. This first edition of the forum highlighted the many objectives and challenges to be met in the near future. Indeed, the development of the electric battery sector in the DRC and Zambia presents numerous economic and environmental opportunities, but also requires significant investments and effective coordination between the different actors.
Conclusion
The electric battery project between the DRC and Zambia represents a major step forward in the development of the energy sector in Africa. This forum made it possible to stimulate exchanges between entrepreneurs, authorities and investors, and to highlight the issues and opportunities linked to this project. The promising future of the electric battery industry in the DRC and Zambia opens up new prospects for economic and environmental development for the region and for the African continent as a whole.
