“Massamba Amadeus: The young Senegalese prodigy who makes the world dance with his new EP “Am-ma Mayla””

Massamba Amadeus, a young 28-year-old Senegalese artist, continues to thrill the public with his catchy music and his undeniable talent. After several years of hard work, he released his new EP entitled “Am-ma Mayla” on September 8. Composed of nine tracks, this album is a gift for his fans, a way for him to express his gratitude and introduce them to his artistic universe.

Originally from the town of Richard-Toll, in the north of Senegal, Massamba Amadeus began his musical career when he was still a communications degree student at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis. Passionate about music, he decided to devote himself fully to his career and to stop his studies once his license was in hand. Despite the reluctance of his father, who wanted his son to pursue his master’s degree, Massamba Amadeus is determined to make his dream come true.

His hard work and talent finally paid off. In 2020, his career began to take off thanks to the release of several singles which met with great success, notably his cover of Youssou N’Dour and Cheikh Lô, which have millions of views on YouTube. These successes allow him to make himself known beyond Senegalese borders and attract an international audience.

In his new EP, Massamba Amadeus offers a mixture of styles, but love remains the common thread of all his songs. He sings mainly in Wolof, the national language of Senegal, but he does not hesitate to include lyrics in French to reach a wider audience. His objective is clear: to make Senegalese, Nigerians and Westerners dance, and to transcend borders with his music.

The artist draws inspiration from his griot origins, Senegalese poet-musicians who have played an important role in Senegalese culture for generations. He wants to mix musical styles to promote Senegalese culture while attracting an international audience. His ambition is to surpass the successes of Youssou N’Dour and to make Senegalese music known on a global scale, like artists such as Burna Boy or Maître Gims.

Despite his ambitions, Massamba Amadeus faces obstacles, particularly when it comes to obtaining visas to perform abroad. Difficulties in obtaining appointments to apply for a visa in Europe had an impact on his career, leading to the loss of several concert dates in France. This problem highlights the shortcomings of the Senegalese music industry, which lacks structures and infrastructure allowing artists to fully develop.

Despite these challenges, Massamba Amadeus continues to move forward on its path and conquer the Senegalese public with regular concerts in Dakar.. He dreams of being able to share his music and his culture with the whole world, to mark his time and leave a legacy after his death, like his idol, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

With his new EP “Am-ma Mayla”, Massamba Amadeus continues to make his place in the Senegalese music industry. His talent, his determination and his ambition allow him to hope for a promising future, where he will be able to promote Senegalese music beyond borders.
