“DRC: Major measures to strengthen air safety and promote agriculture”

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) recently adopted several bills aimed at strengthening international civil aviation and creating the national order of agricultural engineers. These measures were taken with the aim of bringing the country into compliance with international civil aviation standards and ensuring flight safety.

The President of the National Assembly, Christophe Mboso, underlined the importance of these texts for the development of the civil aviation sector in the DRC and for the improvement of travel conditions for the Congolese population. Indeed, since 2006, Congolese airlines have been prohibited from flying over European airspace due to significant shortcomings in air safety.

The bills adopted include measures such as the DRC’s accession to international protocols and conventions aimed at suppressing illicit acts and security violations at airports, as well as strengthening the regulation and control of civil Aviation. These measures will allow the DRC to progress towards compliance with international aviation safety standards and to exit the list of international exclusions, in particular that of the European Union.

At the same time, the creation of the national order of agricultural engineers aims to organize and regulate the profession of agricultural engineers in the DRC, thus contributing to promoting agriculture and food security in the country.

These measures demonstrate the Congolese government’s efforts to improve air safety and the operation of airport infrastructure, while strengthening professions linked to agriculture. They are essential for the economic and social development of the DRC, as well as to strengthen its place on the international scene.

In conclusion, the adoption of these draft laws on international civil aviation and the creation of the national order of agricultural engineers in the Democratic Republic of Congo constitutes a major step forward for the country. These measures will strengthen air safety, improve travel conditions for the Congolese population and promote the development of agriculture. They demonstrate the Congolese government’s commitment to complying with international standards and strengthening its place on the world stage.
