Terrorists from the Allied Democratic Force (ADF) group continue to sow terror in the Beni territory, North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Over the course of a week, a series of attacks took place, causing the deaths of around ten civilians. These attacks follow the displacement of terrorists following bombings of their strongholds in the territory of Irumu in Ituri.
According to Kinos Kituo, president of Mamove civil society, the ADF were forced to move towards the Samboko region, on the border with North Kivu, after the bombings. In this new area, terrorists carried out several attacks, resulting in a provisional death toll of 14 people.
Civil society has also identified several ADF strongholds in the region, such as Miliota, Kasoko, Masenze, Nyambese, Apakolu, Bekembela, Madondondo, Ibanda, Maroc and Ngwado. These strongholds are now being shelled by the coalition of Congolese armed forces (FARDC) and the Ugandan army (UPDF), which has led to losses on the terrorist side.
This situation raises serious concerns about the security of civilians in the Beni region. Repeated ADF attacks have caused numerous human losses and persistent insecurity. It is necessary for the FARDC-UPDF coalition to continue its operations in order to neutralize terrorists and protect local populations.
Congolese authorities must also strengthen security measures in the region, in cooperation with regional and international forces, to end the ADF threat. It is crucial to ensure the safety of civilians and allow them to live in peace and stability.
The fight against terrorism is a major challenge for the Democratic Republic of Congo, but with cooperation and determined action, it is possible to defeat this scourge and restore security in the Beni region.
