Partnership between Mont-Ngafula and Waremme: a promising collaboration for the development of infrastructure
The municipality of Mont-Ngafula, in Kinshasa, and that of Waremme in Belgium recently signed a partnership agreement aimed at modernizing and building the infrastructure of the Mont-Ngafula municipal house. This collaboration, which was initiated in 2022, represents a real opportunity for the development of the city.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the provincial Minister of the Interior, Security and Justice, Gratien Tsakala, as well as a Belgian delegation accompanied by administrative staff from the city of Waremme. The mayor of Mont-Ngafula, Séverin Lumbu, and his deputy, Musende Selemani Zeze, were also present.
During this meeting, discussions mainly focused on the realization of this partnership. The Minister of the Interior assured his support for the realization of this project which is of great importance for the city of Kinshasa, whose civil status must be improved to cope with the growing population.
Julien Humblet, alderman of the town of Waremme, stressed the importance of integrating the Belgian embassy in the DRC into this partnership in order to make it possible. The objective is to provide development assistance for the construction of the civil status offices in Mont-Ngafula and to improve the various services by revitalizing the staff.
Mayor Séverin Lumbu expressed his gratitude for the support of the Belgian ambassador to the DRC, represented by Stanley Matthys, in the implementation of this collaboration. According to him, it is essential to realize the vision of President Félix Tshisekedi, which aims to develop infrastructure and reliable work tools to improve services to the population.
The Belgian delegation, present in Kinshasa since September 18, visited the civil status offices located in the different districts of Mont-Ngafula, as well as schools, universities and tourist sites such as the Congo River and the Center Lola from the Bonobos.
This partnership between Mont-Ngafula and Waremme offers many prospects for the development of the city of Kinshasa. By modernizing infrastructure and improving services to the population, this collaboration will contribute to the development of the local community and strengthen ties between the two municipalities.
Thanks to the support of the Belgian embassy in the DRC and the dynamism of the Mont-Ngafula teams, this project promises to be a real success. It demonstrates the importance of international partnerships in building a better future for local communities.
