Title: Rehabilitation of the kitchen at the central prison of Bukavu: a step towards improving the living conditions of inmates

In an effort to improve the living conditions of inmates in the women’s section at Bukavu central prison, MONUSCO rehabilitated a kitchen with a view to promoting collective feeding. This action, accompanied by the distribution of humanizing materials, represents significant progress in improving the daily lives of inmates. An observation: precarious and individualized conditions
For a long time, inmates in the women’s section at Bukavu central prison had to face precarious cooking conditions. In fact, each inmate was forced to prepare their meal individually, due to the lack of a functional common kitchen. This situation particularly disadvantaged women from low-income families, who were often unable to obtain the utensils necessary for individual cooking.
A beneficial rehabilitation
It is in this context that MONUSCO intervened by rehabilitating the kitchen of the women’s section of the central prison of Bukavu.
