France’s commitment to the fight against climate change and international solidarity is confirmed. During her speech to the United Nations General Assembly, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, announced a contribution of 1.6 billion euros to finance the activity of the Green Climate Fund over the period 2024 -2027.

The Green Climate Fund, created in 2010, is a major instrument of international solidarity in the fight against global warming. This financial contribution will help support vulnerable countries facing this global crisis.

France thus affirms its resolute commitment to environmental protection and aid to developing countries. Catherine Colonna recalled that France had already exceeded its financial climate commitment promises, by increasing its contribution to 7.6 billion euros in 2022, compared to 6 billion initially planned.

In addition to its action in favor of the climate, France is also mobilizing for other humanitarian causes. The minister announced a doubling of the French contribution to the World Food Program (WFP), bringing food aid to nearly a billion euros and benefiting 67 countries. France, committed to international solidarity, wants to help countries in difficulty ensure food security for their populations.

In her speech, Catherine Colonna also underlined France’s confidence in African solutions to deal with African crises. It highlights the importance of cooperation and solidarity between nations to resolve common challenges that affect the entire planet.

Faced with natural disasters and the devastation caused by climate change, the minister calls for collective and urgent action. It is time to act to protect our planet and future generations.

In conclusion, France continues to take concrete measures to fight climate change and support developing countries. The financial contribution announced by Catherine Colonna for the Green Climate Fund demonstrates France’s commitment to environmental protection and international solidarity. It is through collective action and cooperation between nations that we can face global challenges and preserve our planet.
