Title: The armed forces of the DRC neutralize militiamen in the province of Ituri

Introduction :

In the province of Ituri, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the armed forces succeeded in neutralizing four elements of the Cooperative for the Development of Congo (CODECO) militia. This operation is part of efforts by loyalist forces to maintain security in the region and confront attacks by armed groups. Lieutenant Jules Ngongo, spokesperson for the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) in Ituri, announced that despite resistance, the armed forces managed to bring the situation under control.

Development :

In a series of three simultaneous attacks, the CODECO armed group attempted to target the positions of the armed forces. However, loyalist forces quickly reacted and managed to neutralize four CODECO militiamen. This operation demonstrates the determination of the armed forces to fight against armed groups and protect the civilian population.

Unfortunately, during the clashes, two members of the armed forces as well as a driver were injured by enemy fire. However, despite these injuries, loyalist forces continued their pursuit and search operations, which led to the discovery of four dead bodies belonging to CODECO militiamen.

Lieutenant Jules Ngongo, spokesperson for the FARDC in Ituri, stressed that the armed forces remain committed to the fight against armed groups that disrupt peace and security in the region. He called on the armed groups who signed acts of commitment to cessation of hostilities to respect their commitments for peace, security and social cohesion in the province of Ituri.

In addition, Lieutenant Ngongo reminded the population to continue to trust the armed forces and to dissociate themselves from all forms of criminality. He assured that the armed forces remain determined to eradicate armed groups and restore peace and stability in the region. He also warned that those who fail to respect peace commitments are “digging their own grave” and will face the force of the army.

Conclusion :

The action of the DRC armed forces in the province of Ituri demonstrates their commitment to protecting the civilian population and fighting against armed groups. The neutralization of CODECO militiamen during recent attacks demonstrates the effectiveness of the operations carried out by loyalist forces. However, it is essential that the armed groups signatories to the cessation of hostilities commit to their promises for lasting peace in the region. The population is called upon to support the armed forces in their fight against insecurity and to reject all forms of violence and crime.
