Congolese students are actively involved in the electoral process in the Democratic Republic of Congo. During a meeting with the president of the CENI, the steering committee of the Representation of Congolese Students (REC) pleaded in favor of the participation of young Congolese students in this process.
The first vice-president of the REC, Prince Wembolenga, stressed the importance of raising awareness among Congolese students so that they take ownership of the electoral process and adopt a civic attitude in accepting the results of the elections. This initiative aims to avoid any violence and any political influence during elections.
With this in mind, the REC has decided to collaborate closely with the CENI and the House of Elections. Sharing of communication and awareness tools is planned in order to actively involve Congolese students in peacebuilding and encourage them to play a key role as a member of civil society.
The REC steering committee, which entered into action in July 2023, seeks to promote synergy between the different authorities in the country so that the Congolese student community is considered an essential actor in the electoral process and in the construction of a peaceful future. and prosperous for the country.
This initiative is hailed as an important step towards more active participation of young Congolese students in the political life of their country. By getting involved in the electoral process, they will be able to contribute to building a solid and participatory democracy.
The engagement of Congolese students in the electoral process is a positive sign for the future of the country. They thus demonstrate their desire to make their voices heard and actively contribute to the construction of a more just and egalitarian society.
Thanks to this collaboration between the REC and the CENI, Congolese students will be able to mobilize effectively to raise awareness among their peers of the importance of their participation and commitment in the electoral process. Together, they will be able to create a true movement of active and responsible citizenship, thus guaranteeing peaceful and democratic elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In a context where post-election violence is unfortunately frequent, this initiative by the REC and the CENI brings hope. By working closely, these two entities will be able to work together for the civic education of Congolese students and for the construction of a more just and democratic society.
