“Displaced without assistance in Bandundu: a critical situation endangers the lives of thousands of people”

At least 4,600 displaced people from Kwamouth, in Mai-Ndombe province, are currently in Bandundu, in Kwilu province, without any assistance. This critical situation was revealed by Frédéric Nkumpum, advisor at the Kwilu Humanitarian Actions police station, who warned of the lack of food and the precarious living conditions faced by these displaced people.

According to information provided by Frédéric Nkumpum, since their arrival in Bandundu in August 2022, 60 displaced people have lost their lives. Among them, there are 33 children and 27 adults, including 17 women and 10 men. Faced with this dramatic situation, the provincial Humanitarian Affairs Commission is launching an appeal for help to help these destitute displaced people.

The situation is also worrying in other regions of Kwilu province. In Kikwit, there are 5,971 displaced people, while in Masi-Manimba, in the Mokama site, 130 people have been displaced. All of these people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

Frédéric Nkumpum underlines the importance of mobilizing humanitarian responders to help these vulnerable populations. He insists that the displaced are suffering enormously and are in desperate need of food and other assistance to survive in extremely difficult conditions.

Faced with this reality, it is essential that donors and humanitarian partners mobilize quickly to provide effective assistance to the displaced from Kwamouth to Bandundu. It is essential to meet their basic needs, such as food, clean water, healthcare and shelter, to provide them with vital support in this emergency situation.

In conclusion, the situation of displaced people from Kwamouth to Bandundu is alarming. The lack of humanitarian assistance endangers the lives of these people who struggle to survive in precarious conditions. It is urgent that concrete measures be taken to provide them with the help they need to rebuild their lives and regain the dignity they deserve.
