News of September 20, 2023: Lamuka refuses to submit his candidacy for the December elections
In a statement on Top Congo FM, Prince Epenge, spokesperson for Lamuka wing Martin Fayulu, reveals that their partners are putting them under pressure to submit their candidacies for the December elections. However, the movement refuses this request and demands that the votes of all Congolese be counted and published to ensure total transparency of the electoral process.
Prince Epenge insists that Lamuka is working seriously with all his political, ecclesiastical and other partners to put in place mechanisms to prevent fraud in the 2023 elections. They discuss in particular the audit of the electoral register and monitoring of the Congolese vote throughout the country.
Unfortunately, they have the impression that the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) does not see the importance of auditing the file and considers it a matter of life and death. According to Prince Epenge, it seems that the CENI does not want the truth to be revealed.
Martin Fayulu and his Lamuka movement have already announced that they will not submit any candidacy until their demands are met. They demand a new external audit of the electoral rolls to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process.
Discussions between Lamuka and the CENI are ongoing and Prince Epenge promises to report on the level of these discussions when the time is right.
This refusal to submit candidacies for the elections shows Lamuka’s determination to ensure that the 2023 elections are transparent and representative of the will of the Congolese people. It remains to be seen how this situation will evolve and what measures will be taken to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
