“The imminent completion of the Nzolana road in Kinshasa: a major step forward for the connectivity and development of the commune of Ngaliema”

The Nzolana road linking the UPN and Kimbwala neighborhoods in the commune of Ngaliema in Kinshasa is nearing completion. According to the Congolese Agency for Major Works (ACGT) and its Chinese partners Grec-8 and SISC S.A, the work is progressing well and the road could be delivered to the government by the end of next December.

However, the construction of this road was not without constraints. One of the main difficulties was the expropriation of local populations. In fact, it was necessary to widen the road from 6 to 14 meters, which led to the need to expropriate certain people to allow its construction and modernization.

Despite these obstacles, the work is currently in the phase of the different layers of construction, in particular that of the foundation, according to the ACGT. The director of the agency, Nico Nzau, emphasizes that if the expropriation problem is resolved before September 15, the work could be accelerated and completed by the end of December.

Pang Long, general manager of SISC S.A, also believes that the work could be completed in December 2023, provided that the expropriations are resolved in time. He proposes adding additional personnel and equipment to speed up the execution of the work.

Construction of this road began in October 2022 and is financed by Sicomines. Once completed, it will allow better circulation and connectivity between the UPN and Kimbwala districts, thus improving the daily life of residents of the Ngaliema commune.

The modernization of road infrastructure is an essential issue for the development of cities. By allowing better mobility, these roads help to facilitate the movement of people and goods, thus promoting trade and the local economy. The finalization of the Nzolana road is therefore good news for the inhabitants of Ngaliema and demonstrates the efforts made by the Congolese government to improve the country’s infrastructure.
