“The fight for fair wages in the DRC: State workers demand decent remuneration for their essential contribution to society”

The recent general assembly of the synergy of unions and professional associations of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa highlighted a persistent problem in the country: the chronic low salaries of state agents and civil servants. This situation, which has persisted for several decades, has led to deep frustration among teachers, doctors, nurses and other essential workers in the state who find themselves unfairly compensated for their contributions to society.

The Secretary General of Synergy, Jean-Bosco Puna, denounces this discrimination in the distribution of national income. He points out that while some categories of workers enjoy inflated salaries and extra benefits, others, such as teachers and caregivers, find themselves with insufficient income to meet their basic needs. This pay disparity constitutes a violation of the constitutional principles of fairness and has a negative impact on the quality of public services and on the daily lives of these workers.

Faced with this situation, the synergy of unions and professional associations in the DRC promises to carry out large-scale public actions to demand fairness in wages. This mobilization aims not only to raise awareness among the government of the problem, but also to obtain concrete measures to remedy this wage injustice.

It is time for the Congolese government to take into account the legitimate demands of state workers and implement policies allowing for equitable distribution of national income. By investing in key sectors such as education, health and public administration, the government can not only promote the work of these professionals, but also improve public services and the quality of life of the entire population. .

It is essential that unions and professional associations maintain pressure on the government and continue to advocate for fair and equitable pay for all workers. This question does not only concern state workers, but also the entire Congolese society which will benefit from a quality public service and a better quality of life for all.

It is high time that the Congolese government took concrete measures to remedy this unjust situation and ensure state workers decent salaries that reflect their contribution to society. The synergy of unions and professional associations in the DRC will continue to fight for pay equity and respect for the constitutional principles of equity. It is time for the government to listen to their call and take the necessary measures to create a better future for all Congolese workers.
