News: Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo on mission to evaluate military operations in Kisangani
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs, Mr. Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, is currently on a mission to evaluate military operations in the third defense zone of the Democratic Republic of Congo. After making a first stop in Goma, accompanied by his Kenyan counterpart, Mr. Bemba went to Kisangani, capital of the Tshopo province, to continue his mission.
The main objective of this mission is to evaluate military operations in this third defense zone which brings together several provinces, including Ituri, North and South Kivu, Maniema, Tshopo, Haut Uélé and Bas Uélé. Particular attention will be paid to the training of units of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) at the Lt General Bahuma Military Camp, within the framework of the agreement with Kenya. This training is provided by Congolese and Kenyan instructors.
During his visit to Kisangani, Mr. Bemba had a briefing with the general officers of the Third Military Zone and Kenyans, followed by a guided tour of the camp. He also saw a demonstration of the newly formed new units.
Before leaving Kisangani, the Deputy Prime Minister of Defense held a moral talk with the senior and junior officers present. He praised their work and encouraged them to continue their efforts in defending the country. Mr. Bemba took into account the problems facing the military, particularly in terms of weapons and living conditions. He assured that solutions will be provided and that allocations are planned in the coming days. He stressed the importance of collaboration with Kenya in the context of military training and recalled that the defense of the country is a collective responsibility.
This assessment mission led by Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo aims to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Democratic Republic of Congo and to ensure better coordination of military operations in the third defense zone. It demonstrates the commitment of the Congolese government to guaranteeing the security and stability of the country.
