“Historic mobilization of civil servants in the DRC for dignified salaries and improved living conditions”

The mobilization of state agents and civil servants in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for the clearance of their salaries and the improvement of their living conditions was at the heart of the general assembly which was held on September 15 in Kinshasa. Organized by the synergy of trade union and social organizations in the DRC, this meeting allowed civil servants to make their voices heard and put forward their demands.

Civil servants expressed their dissatisfaction with the non-compliance with commitments made by the government in terms of socio-professional conditions. They also denounced the absence of reforms aimed at reducing the salary size of members of government and institutions. According to them, this would create an unfair disparity in the remuneration of state employees.

Furthermore, civil servants called for the depoliticization of businesses and public administrations, including at the local level. They also called for the establishment of a dignified salary scale and the granting of uniform social benefits for all state employees.

The Synergy of trade union and social organizations called on all state agents and civil servants across the country to mobilize and put pressure on the government so that it grants a new salary scale before December 2023.

This mobilization of civil servants in the DRC demonstrates their determination to obtain concrete improvements in their working and living conditions. The government must take into account their legitimate demands in order to guarantee a more equitable and efficient public administration.

It is essential to recognize the importance of the work of civil servants in the proper functioning of the State. Their efforts deserve fair pay and working conditions, as well as recognition for their contribution to society. The general assembly held in Kinshasa is a step forward in the defense of the rights of civil servants in the DRC. Let us hope that the government will be able to meet their legitimate expectations and put in place the necessary reforms for a more efficient and equitable public administration.
