News: The rehabilitation of the road between Kenge and Musamba by the K2 company in Kwango is controversial
The rehabilitation of the road linking the towns of Kenge and Musamba, in the province of Kwango, by the K2 company is raising heated controversies. According to information, the K2 company had been selected by the government to carry out this project to rehabilitate the agricultural service road. The contract, lasting 10 months, provided for the rehabilitation of 250 kilometers of road. However, after 9 months of work, only 10 kilometers were actually repaired, which sparked outrage among Kwango civil society.
Symphorien Kwengo, vice-president of the Kwango provincial civil society consultation framework, declared that this situation was unacceptable. He stressed that this work was part of a broader government program aimed at rehabilitating 1,200 kilometers of stabilized earth roads in the Greater Bandundu region.
Faced with this situation, Symphorien Kwengo called on the central government to take measures, in particular by evaluating the progress of the work and auditing the use of funds allocated to the K2 company. He also criticized the selection of a company without experience or expertise in the field of roads, thus calling for more rigor in the awarding of contracts.
The spokesperson for the Kwango provincial government, Adélard Nkisi, admitted that this situation was worrying. He also highlighted the lack of adequate equipment at the K2 company, adding that it had already received 80% of the funds allocated to the project.
