The inauguration of the Kinshasa Financial Center is a highly anticipated event which is scheduled for December 2, 2023. This announcement was made during a press point organized on the construction site in Kinshasa by the boss of the Turkish company Milvest, in charge of the construction of this ambitious project. With funding of $290 million from the Turkish government, this project symbolizes cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Turkey, following the signing of agreements in 2022 between the two countries.
The Kinshasa Financial Center construction site actually includes two separate projects. On the one hand, there will be the construction of six buildings, including a luxury hotel, as well as a spectacular 3,000 m2 fountain, which will be the largest in Central Africa. Furthermore, a Congress Hall and two blocks of offices intended for rental will also be built on the site.
This large-scale project currently mobilizes around 3,000 people, including 1,800 Congolese and 1,200 Turks. Once completed, the Kinshasa Financial Center is expected to accommodate approximately 5,000 people, including services from the Ministries of Finance and Budget.
It is important to emphasize that all infrastructure built on the site belongs to the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, the management of the Financial Center will be transversal, with Milvest taking over the management of the Marriott hotel for 49 years, before handing it over fully to the Congolese state. This decision is explained by Milvest’s investment of more than $60 million in equity in this hotel project.
Despite this transversal management, the Democratic Republic of Congo will benefit from the cash flows generated by the Kinshasa Financial Center, with monthly revenues belonging to the State.
The inauguration of this financial center marks an important step in the economic development of Kinshasa and demonstrates the desire of the Democratic Republic of Congo to strengthen its ties with Turkey. This project also opens up new employment prospects and will help boost the financial sector of the Congolese capital.
In conclusion, the inauguration of the Kinshasa Financial Center on December 2, 2023 represents a major event for the Democratic Republic of Congo and Turkey. This ambitious project is the result of solid collaboration between the two countries and will bring numerous economic benefits to the Kinshasa region.
