Handing over and taking back the baton of command of the Ruwenzori sector: a transfer of power rich in symbolism

On Thursday, September 14, the ceremony of handing over and taking back the command baton of the Ruwenzori sector took place, in the city of Mutwanga, capital of the sector, in Beni territory in North Kivu. This landmark event saw the outgoing leader, Boozi Sindiwako Bin Vuhaka, hand over the reins to incoming KASEREKA Mapati Japhet.

Under the supervision of the military administrator of the Beni territory, Colonel Ehuta Omeonga Charles, the ceremony was an opportunity for several political-administrative authorities as well as the five heads of the sector’s groups to participate in this transfer of power.

Colonel Ehuta, acting with the authorization of the military governor of North Kivu, proceeded with the official installation of KASEREKA Mapati Japhet, while calling on the population of the Ruwenzori sector to support him in the development of this entity.

After 13 years of service at the head of the Ruwenzori sector, Boozi Sindiwako Bin Vuhaka has gone through many challenges, including massacres perpetrated by ADF terrorists. During his speech, he wanted to thank the population, the various services and the security committee for their collaboration during his mandate. He also called for continuity and work for the social well-being of the country.

For his part, KASEREKA Mapati Japhet greeted the supreme authority of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, and called for the mobilization of all for the development and security of the Ruwenzori sector.

This handover and recovery symbolizes a new chapter in the history of the Ruwenzori sector. The challenges awaiting KASEREKA Mapati Japhet are numerous, but with the support of the population and the authorities, he will be able to develop this entity on all levels.
