Bus fire in Dakar: a terrorist act in the heart of the suburbs

In a district of Dakar, the Senegalese capital, a tragic incident shook the population. A Tata bus was attacked by a molotov cocktail, causing a fire that claimed the lives of two people and seriously injured five others. According to the Minister of the Interior, Antoine Félix Diome, this act is considered a terrorist act.

Images shared on social networks reveal a frightening spectacle: the bus engulfed in flames, while thick black smoke rises into the sky in the Yarakh district, in the suburbs of Dakar.

According to the Minister of the Interior, the bus was targeted by a group of seven hooded individuals. They threw a molotov cocktail at the public transport vehicle, which was carrying Senegalese passengers. Besides the fire, the attackers also robbed the passengers of their belongings, such as money and cell phones.

Minister Antoine Félix Diome visited the scene of the incident and strongly condemned this criminal act. He promised that the State would do everything possible to track down and arrest the perpetrators of this attack, in order to bring them to justice.

This tragedy occurs in a context of tensions in the Senegalese capital. For several days, demonstrations have broken out following the incarceration of political opponent Ousmane Sonko and the dissolution of his party, Pastef. Many political actors, including opponent Idrissa Seck, expressed their condolences to the victims and denounced this criminal act.

In this delicate period, it is important to remember the importance of peace and security to ensure the well-being of all citizens. Senegalese society must remain united to confront such acts of violence and guarantee a peaceful future for all.
