The Nzolana road in Kinshasa: a step towards opening up

The Minister of State, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro Muvunyi, recently visited the construction site of the Nzolana road in Kinshasa and was satisfied with the progress of the work. This 8.4 km road connects several municipalities in the city, notably Ngaliema and Mont-Ngafula, and will have a considerable impact on opening up these neighborhoods.

The Minister of State expressed his delight at the speed with which the project is progressing. Indeed, the construction of this road, carried out within the framework of the Sino-Congolese program, began in November of the previous year and is already at an execution rate of almost 50%. The objective is to deliver the road by May 2024, but it is envisaged to reduce the deadline by 5 months, which would allow an inauguration as early as December if the Head of State’s agenda allows it.

In addition to the speed of execution, the Minister of State was also interested in the aspect of sanitation. Indeed, one of the main problems in the area is erosion, and the Nzolana road project also includes water drainage measures to alleviate this problem.

The Minister of State also wanted to salute the population for their cooperation in the project, particularly with regard to the expropriations necessary for the construction of the road.

During his visit, the Minister of State also visited the cultural and artistic center of Central African countries, where work is underway to make the work operational by the end of the year . The Minister was optimistic about the progress of the work, with an execution rate estimated at nearly 85%. He also stressed that international standards are respected in the construction of this work, which includes performance halls as well as a building reserved for the National Institute of Arts.

In conclusion, the construction of the Nzolana road in Kinshasa is a project of capital importance for opening up the city’s districts. The Minister of State, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, was satisfied with the progress of the work and optimistic about their completion within the planned time frame. The local population was also praised for their cooperation in this major project.
