Parliamentary return of national deputies in September 2023
After a period of three months of vacation, the national deputies of the Democratic Republic of Congo are preparing to return to the hemicycle for their parliamentary return on Friday, September 15, 2023. This return also marks the last legislative session before the elections general meetings planned for December 2023.
During this parliamentary re-entry, the people’s elected representatives will have the mission of exhausting the matters which remained unresolved during the current legislature. Among these files, that relating to the law on the establishment of the state of siege will once again be debated, with questions about its continuity or not.
During the last session, numerous hearings took place, with the participation of members of government as well as directors general of state public services. These hearings made it possible to address various subjects and to gather information necessary for legislative work.
As part of the legislative activities, the National Assembly convened a total of 31 plenaries, during which 26 bills and 4 proposed laws were voted on. These laws aim to respond to the needs and concerns of the Congolese population.
The return to parliament will therefore be an opportunity for national deputies to resume their legislative work with determination and compromise, with a view to contributing to the development and stability of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
