Resumption of Congo Airways activities after a temporary interruption
In a proactive approach aimed at quickly resolving the situation of the National Aviation Company Congo Airways, the Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, held an emergency meeting with the Minister of Transport, Ways of Communication, and Opening up, Marc Ekila Likombio, and the General Director of Congo Airways, José Dubier Lueya.
This meeting follows Congo Airways’ announcement regarding the temporary interruption of its activities in order to improve the efficiency of its services. The government reacted quickly to find urgent solutions and quickly restart the company’s operations.
After the meeting, the Minister of Transport, Marc Ekila, declared to the press: “The Prime Minister invited us to discuss in detail the feasibility of quickly relaunching the activities of Congo Airways. He is committed to doing his better so that the recovery plan is effective as quickly as possible.”
For his part, the General Director of Congo Airways expressed his wish to see activities resume in the days to come. He declared: “We presented our needs to quickly relaunch operations. The Prime Minister was listening and we hope to find a solution to resume the network quickly, by acquiring two leased aircraft in order to ensure the continuity of our activities and improve the safety conditions of our operation.
This meeting demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to supporting and reviving the aviation industry in the country. The resumption of activities of Congo Airways is a positive signal for air transport in the Democratic Republic of Congo and for the country’s economy as a whole.
In the days to come, it will be essential to closely monitor developments regarding the measures taken to revive and strengthen the company, as well as the impact of these on the Congolese airline industry. The success of this recovery is crucial to ensure connectivity and facilitate the movement of populations, both nationally and internationally.
