Printing and packaging of provisional lists of voters for the general elections in the DRC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is actively preparing for the next general elections scheduled for December 2023. With this in mind, the President of the CENI, Denis Kadima Kazadi, accompanied by his team, recently visited the National Treatment Center (CNT) at the institution’s headquarters in Kinshasa.
The objective of this visit was to supervise the progress of the work related to the printing and packaging of the provisional lists of voters. Indeed, according to the electoral law, it is obligatory to publish these lists so that voters can check their presence and correct any errors. The CENI therefore works to generate the lists by polling station, print them, check them and package them with a view to their display in the branches and their availability on the institution’s website.
Denis Kadima Kazadi underlined the importance of this exercise, which allows voters to check their registration on the electoral list and correct any errors. He also specified that this verification and correction process will be carried out for a period of 30 days before the publication of the final lists of voters.
In addition to printing and packaging the provisional lists, the President of the CENI was also interested in the division of the candidate files for the provincial delegation and municipal councilors, during his visit to the archives service.
This approach by the CENI demonstrates the importance given to transparency and citizen participation in the electoral process in the DRC. By allowing voters to verify their registration and correct errors, the CENI strengthens legitimacy and public confidence in upcoming elections.
In conclusion, the printing and packaging of provisional lists of voters for the next general elections in the DRC constitute a crucial step in the preparation of this democratic process. The CENI makes every effort to guarantee the transparency and reliability of these lists, with the aim of facilitating citizen participation and strengthening public confidence in the country’s electoral system.
