Revolutionizing teaching: the key to a better future
The start of the school year is a crucial time in the lives of all students. Unfortunately, in some regions of Congo, such as Pangi territory in Maniema, many students are deprived of their right to education due to conflict between teachers and authorities.
For almost two weeks, students at Pangi public schools have been unable to return to classes as teachers demand payment of two months’ salary and other benefits owed to them. This situation puts students in a precarious position, depriving them of their right to quality education.
One of the students interviewed expressed her frustration with this situation: “We students come to school every day, but the teachers are not there. We cannot study because of this strike. We’ve been losing learning time for a week already. We ask the authorities to resolve this situation quickly, because we, the girls, are the first victims of this deprivation of education. We are at risk of early pregnancy and unwanted marriages when we stay at home unsupervised.”
This situation highlights the need for the State to take its responsibilities and guarantee the payment of teachers. Teachers are the pillars of education, and when they are not paid, it directly affects the transmission of knowledge to students.
It is imperative to recognize the importance of education for the long-term development of a nation. Investing in education means investing in the future of young people and in the progress of society as a whole. Without education, these students are doomed to remain trapped in the cycle of poverty and ignorance.
It is our duty to ensure that every child has access to quality education, regardless of where they live. The authorities must take immediate action to resolve this conflict and ensure that teachers are fairly and adequately remunerated.
At the same time, it is essential to work on sustainable solutions to prevent such situations from recurring in the future. This requires better management of budgetary resources, the development of solid educational policies and the promotion of the role of teachers in society.
Investing in education is a profitable investment in the long term. This will make it possible to train a generation of educated young people, capable of facing future challenges, contributing to economic and social development and building a better future for all.
It is time for the authorities to realize the importance of education and take concrete measures to ensure access to quality education for all students.. It is by investing in today’s young people that we can build a promising future for tomorrow.
