Title: North Kivu businesses benefit from state exemptions to promote economic development

Introduction :
As part of the economic development of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the government grants exemptions to economic operators investing in the North Kivu region. Under the supervision of the National Industry Promotion Agency (ANAPI), several local companies were visited by the Minister of State, Minister of Planning, Judith Suminwa Tuluka. This visit allowed us to see the achievements and progress of the companies benefiting from these exemptions. In this article, we will look at three companies in particular: the Nuru photovoltaic plant, the Okapi corn flour manufacturing plant and the Mount Gibeon factory.

The Nuru photovoltaic power plant: an exemplary electrification company

Located in the heart of the city of Goma, the Nuru photovoltaic power plant attracted the attention of Minister Judith Suminwa during her visit. This company carries out electrification in the Democratic Republic of Congo through a solar hybrid system and builds distribution networks to provide electricity to households, SMEs and industries. Thanks to the exemptions granted by the State, Nuru was able to reduce project costs, retain investors and guarantee access to electricity at an affordable price for the population of Goma.

The Okapi corn flour manufacturing plant: expansion favored by exemptions

During her visit, Minister Judith Suminwa also visited the Okapi maize flour manufacturing factory. Bernard Bahati, Managing Director of this company, underlined the importance of the exemptions granted by the Congolese government. These exemptions allow Okapi to import machines without constraints and operate for five years without paying taxes. This situation quickly promotes the growth of the business and contributes to the creation of local jobs.

The Mont-Gabaon factory: government support for local entrepreneurship

The Congolese Minister of State closed her visit by visiting Mont-Gabaon, another large corn flour manufacturing factory. The managers of this company welcomed the Government’s desire to support local entrepreneurship through exemptions. These incentive measures allow Mont-Gabaon to develop, create jobs and contribute to the country’s economy thanks to products “made in the DRC”. The Congolese Government is thus committed to realizing the vision of the President of the Republic, that of making the Congolese millionaires.

Conclusion :
Exemptions granted to companies in North Kivu by the Congolese government have a positive impact on the economic development of the region. By visiting companies such as Nuru, Okapi and Mont-Gabaon, Minister Judith Suminwa was able to see the concrete results of these incentive measures. The objective of creating Congolese millionaires and stimulating local entrepreneurship is thus being achieved. These exemptions promote job creation, business growth and the economic development of the DRC.
