Ferdinand Kambere’s accusations against the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) and the M23: What is it really?
In a recent statement, Ferdinand Kambere, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), strongly accused the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) of supporting terrorists in M23 in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. These accusations were made during his appearance on the show “Le Débat” broadcast on Top Congo FM.
According to Ferdinand Kambere, the EACRF would aim to support the M23, a rebel group which opposes the ongoing peace process in the eastern region. He claims that M23 spokespersons have regularly claimed their alliance with the power in place, without the government refuting these allegations. Ferdinand Kambere cites in particular the silence of the Tshisekedi regime in the face of the declarations of the M23 spokesperson.
The deputy permanent secretary of the PPRD even goes so far as to establish a link between the act of violent repression perpetrated by the Republican Guard (GR) of the DRC against demonstrators in Goma and the alleged support of the EACRF for the M23. According to him, the behavior of elements of the GR raises questions about possible cooperation between the Tshisekediste regime and the terrorists.
However, it is important to step back from these accusations and examine the facts objectively. Ferdinand Kambere’s allegations can be considered as comments made in the context of political opposition. It is important to remember that the M23 is a rebel group that has been active in the eastern region of the DRC, but it should be noted that information on their alliance with the ruling power remains to be confirmed.
In addition, it is necessary to take into account the official position of the Congolese government which denounces the activism of armed groups, including the M23 supported by foreign countries. President Tshisekedi expressed concerns about the presence of the EACRF and criticized its inability to effectively combat the M23.
It is also important to note that the government has made efforts to resolve the conflict in the eastern region by returning power to the military. This approach aims to confront the aggression perpetrated by armed groups and restore peace in the region.
It is essential to monitor developments carefully and wait for tangible evidence before drawing definitive conclusions. Ferdinand Kambere’s accusations should not be taken at face value and require further analysis.
It is crucial to maintain a balance between the expression of political opinions and the search for truth. The Congolese population deserves to know the reality of the situation in the east of the country in order to be able to work for lasting peace.
While awaiting further information and concrete evidence, it is important to remain vigilant and not spread unfounded accusations that could compromise ongoing peace efforts in the eastern region of the DRC.
