The importance of observing elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
The organization of elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) aroused the interest of a delegation of French deputies and senators staying in the country. Welcomed by the President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Denis KADIMA KAZADI, the French parliamentarians expressed their curiosity at the simultaneous holding of three or four elections in the DRC.
Bruno FUCHS, Deputy for Haut-Rhin and General Delegate of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF), said he was impressed by this organization and underlined the importance of following its example. He mentioned the possibility for France to integrate this electoral system, while expressing his desire to return as an electoral observer during the next elections.
This approach by French parliamentarians reflects open-mindedness and the desire to understand the different methods of organizing elections around the world. By observing the practices implemented in the DRC, they seek to enrich their own electoral system and improve their democratic process.
The DRC, by organizing several elections simultaneously, demonstrates its expertise in the management of elections and the logistics necessary to guarantee a transparent and inclusive democratic process. This experience can serve as an inspiration for other countries, notably France, which is always trying to improve its electoral methods.
The presence of international observers during the elections is a guarantee of transparency and legitimacy. By agreeing to be available as election observers, French MPs demonstrate their commitment to democracy and the integrity of elections.
In conclusion, the open-mindedness of French parliamentarians towards the practices of organizing elections in the DRC is a positive sign. Sharing experiences and observing electoral processes in other countries is key to promoting strong democratic systems and building citizens’ confidence in the electoral process.
