The Green Social Democratic Party supports the candidacy of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi for the 2023 presidential election in the DRC

At the heart of booming political news, the Green Social Democratic Party (PSDV) made a notable announcement this Thursday, September 7. Indeed, during its first convention which was held from September 5 to 7 in Kinshasa, the PSDV announced its support for the candidacy of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi in the presidential election of December 2023.

This decision underlines the ideological convergence between the party and the President of the Republic, who is a supporter of social democracy. Through this announcement, the PSDV expresses the need to have enlightened leadership at the top of the State to face the many challenges facing the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The president of the PSDV, Léonard She Okitundu, declared: “Recognizing the ideological convergence between our party and the President of the Republic, a supporter of social democracy, we took, at the end of these meetings, two major resolutions: to continue our participation in the electoral process until its end, and make the Head of State the party’s candidate in the next presidential election.

This decision is all the more interesting since Léonard She Okitundu, as a member of the former Presidential Majority (MP) and former close collaborator of ex-President Joseph Kabila, has political experience and in-depth knowledge of the issues national and international.

With this announcement, the PSDV marks a turning point in the Congolese political landscape and thus supports the candidacy of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, affirming that his political vision is in line with the ideals of the party.

The move also raises questions about upcoming political coalitions and alliances in the race for the December 2023 presidential election in the DRC. The different political parties will have to take a position and choose their candidate to represent their ideas and values.

The candidacy of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, supported by the PSDV, could thus strengthen his position in the race for the presidency and generate new debates and discussions within the Congolese political scene.

In the coming months, it will be interesting to follow the evolution of the political situation in the DRC and the choices of the different political parties with a view to the presidential election. The country is at a turning point in its history and the decisions taken today will have a major impact on its political and socio-economic future.

The PSDV’s support for Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi marks an important step in this direction and underlines the importance of strong and enlightened leadership to address the challenges facing the DRC. The coming months will therefore be crucial for the political future of the country and will determine the face of the DRC in the years to come.
