“Shortage of medicines at Lokando health center: an urgent call to save lives”

The Lokando referral health center, located 60 kilometers from Kindu in the province of Maniema, is currently encountering major difficulties due to a lack of medicines. According to the medical director, doctor Gervais Djela Luka, the center has not received a supply of drugs for more than six months.

This shortage of drugs has serious consequences for the patients who visit the health centre. In some cases, patients die en route when they are referred to other health facilities, due to the deplorable state of the roads.

Doctor Gervais Djela therefore appeals to government authorities, partners and the population of the region to ensure the supply of drugs to the Lokando referral health center. It also highlights the importance of road maintenance to ensure faster and safer access to health care.

It is essential that the government and health partners take action to resolve this critical situation. Access to quality medicines is a fundamental right for all citizens, and it is imperative to ensure the availability of essential medicines in all health facilities, including in rural areas like Lokando.

Such a situation should not exist, and it is essential to act quickly to avoid tragic consequences for patients. Health centers such as the one in Lokando play a vital role in providing primary health care to the population, and there is a need to adequately support them in terms of medical resources.

In conclusion, it is essential to remedy the lack of drugs in the referral health center of Lokando. This will require coordination between government, health partners and local actors to ensure regular drug supply and improved road infrastructure. The health of citizens must remain a top priority and no one should be deprived of necessary medical care due to a shortage of medicines
