Construction of the new building of the Constitutional Court: A step towards optimized justice
The construction of the new building of the Constitutional Court is a major project launched by the Congolese government with the financial support of the UNDP. This initiative aims to provide the highest judicial body in the country with modern and functional workspaces to enable it to best exercise its mission as a constitutional judge.
During the ceremony of laying the first stone, the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, expressed his desire to provide the Constitutional Court with premises adapted to its needs. The new seat of the Court, inspired by the pyramidal shape of the Nyragongo volcano, will symbolize the strength and power of the decisions taken by this institution.
Located in the Royal district of the commune of Gombe, the new building of the Constitutional Court will consist of a large courtroom, offices and other work spaces spread over four floors. The design of this building not only reflects modern architecture, but also highlights the characteristic volcanic relief of the country.
This initiative demonstrates President Tshisekedi’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By providing the Constitutional Court with appropriate premises, it offers constitutional judges a favorable environment to carry out their missions and take irrevocable decisions in complete independence.
The President of the Constitutional Court, Dieudonné Kamuleta, expressed his gratitude to the Head of State for his support in the realization of this project. He underlined the importance of this new building which will allow the Constitutional Court to work more effectively and efficiently, thus guaranteeing fair and transparent justice for all Congolese citizens.
The construction of the new building of the Constitutional Court is part of a broader dynamic of modernization of the judicial power in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It will help to strengthen citizens’ confidence in the judicial system and consolidate the rule of law in the country.
In sum, the construction of the new building of the Constitutional Court is an important step towards improving the functioning of the judicial system in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This project will allow constitutional judges to work in optimal conditions, thus guaranteeing fair and independent justice for all Congolese citizens
