The trial for the murder of three Primary, Secondary and Technical Education (EPST) inspectors as well as their two companions opened on Tuesday August 22 in Dekesha, in the territory of Kazumba in central Kasai. This case, which dates back to April 29, 2019, has caused great emotion in the region, and the opening of this trial is a real relief for the families of the victims.
Mhyrrand MULUMBA, coordinator of the National Association of Victims of Congo (ANVC), welcomes the opening of this trial and hopes that the presumed culprits will be prosecuted and sentenced. For him, it is essential that justice be rendered in order to value the victims and to fight against impunity for serious crimes committed in the DRC.
The ANVC is closely monitoring the progress of the proceedings and hopes that the real perpetrators of this crime will be identified and brought to justice. Mhyrrand MULUMBA nevertheless expresses doubts as to the outcome of the sentence, and asks that the culprits not go unpunished.
Recall that the main author, Mulumba Kamuakala Thomas, a member of the Kamuina Nsapu militia, was arrested a few years ago. His fate will be known in the coming hours, and it is expected that justice will shed light on this case and convict those responsible.
This trial is therefore of great importance for the Kasai Central region, and the ANVC and many civil society actors hope that justice will be done for the victims and that this will serve as an example in the fight against impunity in the DRC. .
The verdict of this trial is eagerly awaited, and it will undoubtedly mark a turning point in the search for justice for the victims of this tragic event. Hopefully, this will also advance the fight against impunity and ensure the safety and protection of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education professionals in the DRC
