China engages strong partnership with Africa to enhance joint development

Within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), China is committed to supporting Africa in strengthening their development strategies. During the 15th BRICS summit in South Africa, Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed this desire to support Africa in its rise to power on the international scene.

Strengthening dialogue and communication between China and Africa is at the heart of the concerns. China is willing to support African integration institutions such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System as well as the African Broadcasting Union. The goal is to build strong cooperation mechanisms between China and Africa.

China is also committed to supporting the industrialization of Africa. It will mobilize resources from its cooperation with the African continent as well as from the initiative of Chinese enterprises to support the development of the manufacturing sector and promote the industrialization and economic diversification of Africa. President Xi Jinping wishes to direct resources in terms of aid, investment and financing towards industrialization projects.

Another key area of cooperation concerns agriculture. China will launch an assistance program for the modernization of African agriculture. The objective is to support Africa in the extension of its cereal crops, to encourage Chinese companies to invest more in agriculture in Africa and to strengthen cooperation on agricultural technologies, in particular seeds. This initiative aims to contribute to the transformation and upgrading of agriculture in Africa.

Finally, China will set up a Sino-African cooperation plan aimed at developing talents. Each year, it plans to train 500 successful directors and teachers of vocational schools in Africa, as well as 10,000 talents with Chinese language skills and professional skills. In addition, China will invite 20,000 government officials and technical professionals from African countries to seminars and forums to build African capacity in science, education and innovation.

President Xi Jinping announced that the next FOCAC conference will be held in China in 2024, providing another opportunity to bring China and Africa together to consider their future development together.

In conclusion, China shows a strong will to strengthen its cooperation with Africa in various strategic areas such as industrialization, agriculture and talent training.. This collaboration promises to promote the joint development of China and Africa, and to strengthen their respective place on the international scene
