Cédric Bakambu is making a comeback in the national team of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Selected by coach Sébastien Desabre, Bakambu is set to join the Leopards to face Sudan on the final day of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
This announcement was widely expected, given Bakambu’s sensational performance at the latest national team rally. Suspended for the fifth day of playoffs, Bakambu will be back to strengthen the Congolese attack alongside Yoan Wissa and Fiston Kalala Mayele.
But Bakambu isn’t the only new face on this shortlist. Defender Dylan Batubinsika, who distinguished himself during the last rally, is once again called upon to defend the colors of the Leopards. Henock Inonga, midfielder, also joins the team.
Among the other players selected are familiar names such as Chancel Mbemba, Gaël Kakuta and Silas Katompa. But we also note the arrival of newcomers such as Charles Pickel, defensive midfielder from Cremonese, and Pelly Ruddock Edo, midfielder.
This selection list testifies to coach Desabre’s desire to strengthen the team for the Africa Cup of Nations. With experienced players and promising new talents, the DRC Leopards hope to perform well in the next continental tournament.
In conclusion, the inclusion of Cedric Bakambu in the DRC Leopards roster to face Sudan is a testament to the coach’s confidence in this talented player
