The House of Elections in Gombe: A place of exchange and sharing at the service of democracy in the DRC
Gombe, Democratic Republic of Congo – President Denis KADIMA KAZADI recently inaugurated the House of Elections in Gombe, cutting the symbolic ribbon of this space dedicated to democracy and the electoral process. Located on Avenue Kolwezi, the Election House aims to be a place of interaction between the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) and Congolese citizens.
The opening of the House of Elections marks a major step forward for democracy in the DRC. Indeed, this place offers a space for exchanges and sharing, thus promoting better communication and greater transparency between the CENI and the actors of the electoral process. It is an information crossroads where voters can find the necessary information on the electoral process, the candidates, the modalities of the ballots, and much more.
The House of Elections also aims to be a training tool for the media, civil society organizations and political parties. Training sessions will thus be organized for representatives of community radio stations, in order to provide them with relevant information on upcoming electoral activities and legal innovations. Radio, as a local medium, plays a crucial role in informing citizens, and this initiative aims to strengthen the dissemination of quality and objective information.
In addition to its training role, the House of Elections will be open to all citizens wishing to obtain information on the electoral process. It is intended to be a warm place, where each person will feel welcomed and listened to, without constraint or particular protocol. Reception agents will be available to answer questions and provide all useful information.
This CENI initiative, made possible thanks to the coordination of the United Nations Development Programme, aims to build trust between voters and the institutions responsible for organizing elections. It demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to a transparent and inclusive electoral process.
In conclusion, the House of Elections in Gombe represents a significant step forward in the consolidation of democracy in the DRC. It offers a space for exchanges and sharing between the CENI and Congolese citizens, thus promoting a better understanding of the electoral process and greater voter participation. This communication and training tool will help build inclusiveness, transparency and trust in the electoral process, allowing the DRC to consolidate its democracy and move the country towards a better future
