The Head of State, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, recently convened a consultative meeting with the Heads of the country’s institutions. This meeting, which was held on August 21, 2023, aimed to examine various crucial issues of national life, including the state of siege and the general elections scheduled for December 20 this year.
According to the Prime Minister, Sama Lukonde, President Tshisekedi wanted to gather the opinions of the various heads of institutions after the discussions held during the round table on the state of siege. This approach was intended to facilitate decision-making on this important issue.
During the meeting, participants also reviewed the ongoing electoral process. Indeed, the Democratic Republic of Congo has undertaken to organize general elections by 20th December next. It was therefore essential to address this subject in order to define the precise guidelines to be followed in order to respect the commitments made.
The Head of State also insisted on the importance of remaining mobilized and attentive to the expectations of the population. Security remains an absolute priority, but we must also continue to work on the peace process and on the commitments made during the negotiations in Luanda and Nairobi.
At this consultative meeting, in addition to the Prime Minister, were present the President of the Senate, Bahati Lukwebo, the First Vice-President of the National Assembly, André Mbata, as well as the President of the Constitutional Court, Dieudonné Kamuleta.
It is essential to emphasize that these discussions testify to the importance that President Tshisekedi places on consultation and collective decision-making. By bringing together the heads of the country’s institutions, it seeks to obtain a wide range of perspectives and opinions in order to make informed decisions for the well-being of the country and its people.
This consultative meeting testifies to the will of the Head of State to pursue an inclusive and participatory approach in the governance of the country. It is also encouraging to see that security and election issues are taken seriously and given special attention by the authorities.
The Congolese people eagerly await the results of these discussions and hope that the decisions taken will contribute to strengthening the stability of the country and guaranteeing free, transparent and fair elections.
In conclusion, the consultative meeting between the Head of State and the Heads of the country’s institutions is an important step in the search for solutions to the challenges facing the Democratic Republic of Congo. It demonstrates the will of the authorities to work together to ensure the security, peace and development of the country
