“Young Christians in politics: The inspiring appeal of the Minister of State in the DRC”

In a conference organized by the Chapelle des Vainqueurs church, Guy Loando Mboyo, the Minister of State in charge of Territorial Development in the Democratic Republic of Congo, addressed more than 500 young Christians to encourage them to s engage in the political life of the country. Loando stressed that religion should not be used to exclude young Christians from political activism. On the contrary, Loando Mboyo said Christians should work to influence politics by embodying Christian values.

“A grace of elevation in politics cannot diminish our love for the things of God. Politics is not a sin, but don’t compromise yourself. A young Christian must have the discretion to avoid some unnecessary fights,” he advised.

Loando also pointed out that to change things, it is necessary to act from within and that young Christians can be missionaries in the political world. However, he also warned that the youth who engage in politics must remain in purity and respect virtues and disciplines.

The conference was organized for the benefit of the youth of the Chapelle des Vainqueurs church and began with prayer and worship. By mixing the useful with the pleasant, two dance and theater pieces were presented to start the ceremony.

In conclusion, Loando noted that the DRC needs young politicians with Christian values to lead the country and bring about real change. He said young Christians must be prepared to deal with blackmail and vilification that could be used against them to ruin their reputation.

This conference was particularly inspiring, as evidenced by the pastor’s altar call that took place immediately after Guy Loando Mboyo’s address. The involvement of young Christians in politics could mark an important step for the DRC in the fight for democracy and the development of the country
