Total Energies donates 105 resettlement houses and title deeds to people who have been impacted by the Tilenga project. Each eligible household benefited from a resettlement plan developed in consultation with the Government’s Chief Assessor. The houses, built on land selected by residents and paid for by the company, offer 2 to 4 bedroom options and are equipped with kitchens, VIP latrines and 5000 liter rainwater harvesting tanks. , among other amenities.
The Ugandan authorities expressed their satisfaction with the progress made in the resettlement of those affected by the Tilenga project. Total Energies further undertakes to continue to work closely with them and the relevant authorities to ensure a transparent and fair resettlement process while minimizing negative impacts on local communities.
The goal is to build the capacity of local communities and improve their livelihoods by implementing community development programs, job training, employment opportunities and economic initiatives.
Total Energies thus shows itself to be socially responsible and sustainable in its commitments. The company puts these measures in place to preserve the dignity and well-being of the populations affected by the project, and above all, to build a better future for all.
