“Fight against corruption in the DRC: how the government of Félix Tshisekedi mobilizes 10 billion USD for sustainable development?”

The Democratic Republic of Congo is engaged in a fight against corruption with the establishment of various structures to remedy it. Thus, the government has strengthened the legal framework by revitalizing the Court of Auditors and the General Inspectorate of Finance to better support public institutions in properly managing the funds mobilized. The creation of the National Agency for the Fight against Corruption and of Cenaref is also a major point in this battle.

The Head of State, Félix Tshisekedi, is very committed to the fight against corruption in the DRC. With his government, he mobilized own public revenues to the tune of 10 billion dollars. What previously represented only 3 billion USD, despite the various global crises that have impacted the world economy, from 2020 until today, namely the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The keynote-speaker from the Democratic Republic of Congo at the International Anti-Corruption Alliance forum is Rose Mutombo Kiese, who affirmed that the Congolese government had developed tools to support public institutions in their efficient management and eradicate anti-values in public management. To achieve this, the Financial Patrol was created, which deals with the mobilization of public revenues and the eradication of anti-values in public management.

This commitment of the DRC against corruption strengthens the financial independence of the State and encourages better management of funds, as well as better transparency with a view to the country’s long-term development.

In short, the fight against corruption in the DRC is underway and the government is not skimping on efforts to get there.
