The First Lady of the DRC, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi inaugurated the OPDAD market on June 15 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa. This ceremony was organized to celebrate the anniversary of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLA), whose activities will take place throughout this week with a meeting scheduled for June 17.
For this occasion, several stands were set up to promote local products and services. The members of the OPDAD were able to discover the Congolese genius through a large exhibition of local products.
OPDAD is an organization whose mission is to contribute to the health and well-being of children, young people and women through advocacy, resource mobilization and strategic partnerships. The delegations thus visited the stands set up by state structures, commercial companies and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
In addition to these activities, several stage performances were organized to enhance the inaugural evening of the OPDAD village. It will remain open to the public throughout the weekend.
This OPDAD initiative is an opportunity to promote local products from the DRC. It is also an opportunity for the First Lady of the DRC to interact with other African First Ladies as well as other members of the OPDAD for the promotion of actions likely to promote sustainable development in the country and in Africa.
