Congolese Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde recently participated in the 18th edition of DRC Mining Week in Lubumbashi, where he delivered a remarked speech on the importance of the mining sector for the development of the agricultural sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo. . This declaration comes in response to the recurring problems of development of the agricultural sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo, while the latter nevertheless has the necessary means to develop. Indeed, the country has immense mineral reserves, which would allow it to stimulate strong growth in agriculture by benefiting from the assistance of the mining sector.
The Prime Minister made this statement during the Council of Ministers, also recalling that his speech during the DRC Mining Week focused on the need to use the mining sector to meet the country’s agricultural development challenge.
This year’s theme for DRC Mining Week was “Recognizing the trophies and victories of the mining industry in the DRC and abroad”, which shows the growing importance of the mining sector for the economic development of the Democratic Republic. of Congo.
Although obstacles remain for the development of the agricultural sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the growing importance of the mining sector for this development is an encouraging sign for the future of the country.
