Security is a major concern in the Democratic Republic of Congo, especially in the city of Beni, in the province of North Kivu. Indeed, during a closure operation carried out jointly by the Armed Forces of the DRC and elements of the Congolese National Police, more than seventy people were arrested in certain districts of the city, such as Tamende, Kasanga -Tuha, Butsili and Ngongolio. This operation makes it possible to limit acts of insecurity while the city of Beni is experiencing an upsurge in violence.
These arrests led to the seizure of military effects and various objects, which underline the importance of such operations on the ground in order to restore a more secure situation for the population. This situation is all the more alarming as the city of Beni has experienced renewed insecurity recently.
The North Kivu region is often the scene of deadly violence, particularly due to the presence of local and foreign armed groups, amplified by the lack of security, infrastructure and basic services for local populations.
Thus, to put an end to this growing insecurity, the authorities must act on several fronts, in particular the reform of security systems and the establishment of sustainable socio-economic development to stem the violence in the region.
It is therefore necessary that closure initiatives such as the one carried out in the city of Beni be multiplied in order to restore security in the various affected areas and allow sustainable development.
