The United States of America ready to support the Democratic Republic of Congo in its economic development
A delegation from the US Congress recently traveled to Kinshasa to meet President Félix Tshisekedi and discuss cooperation between the two countries. The delegation, led by House Foreign Affairs Committee members John James and Sara Jacobs, expressed US support for the Congolese government in its efforts to rebuild the country’s economy.
During discussions with President Tshisekedi, the members of the delegation stressed the importance of maintaining good relations between the two States. They also addressed issues relating to human rights, security and the economic development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
John James, chairman of the Africa subcommittee of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said the United States was ready to invest in building infrastructure, developing agriculture, as well as building of bridges and railways. The objective is to help the DRC to become an economic leader in Africa.
The US delegation also underscored the importance of the Congolese population as a valuable resource for the country. They expressed their willingness to work with the Congolese government to ensure that the population can benefit from the wealth of the country.
According to the Congolese presidential communications service, a bipartisan group in the US Congress is currently working on a legislative project aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between the United States and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This visit by the American delegation testifies to the growing interest of the United States for the DRC and its desire to support the country in its economic development. This opens new prospects for cooperation and investment for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which could benefit from the expertise and resources of the United States to stimulate its economic growth and become a major player on the African continent
