Monkey Pox appears in Kinshasa: Urgent measures taken at the Kinshasa General Reference Hospital

Recent news reports a worrying situation at the Kinshasa General Reference Hospital, formerly known as Mama Yemo. Indeed, since last Friday, one confirmed case and three suspects of Monkey Pox disease have been registered in this establishment.

According to the director of the national program for the fight against Monkey Pox, Dr Shongo Lushima, the infected patient comes from the town of Inongo, in the province of Mai-Ndombe. He is a man in his thirties, arrived in Kinshasa by boat. The authorities quickly took the necessary measures by placing all the people who had contact with the patient under surveillance.

It is important to point out that the Democratic Republic of Congo has already registered more than 3,000 cases of Monkey Pox since the beginning of the year. Faced with this situation, the population is invited to remain calm, but above all to report any individual presenting with fever followed by rashes, which may appear in particular on the head, face, palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

It is essential to respect preventive measures, in particular by avoiding all physical contact with infected people or their soiled objects, as well as with their excretions. Everyone’s vigilance and collaboration are necessary to contain the spread of this disease.

This situation highlights the need for continuous awareness and collective mobilization to deal with the various epidemics and diseases that can affect our society. Taking precautions and respecting health instructions are simple but essential actions to protect our health and that of those around us.

In conclusion, it is essential to stay informed and follow the recommendations of health authorities in order to prevent the spread of disease and protect our well-being. The fight against Monkey Pox and other epidemics is a challenge that requires everyone’s commitment, and it is by working together that we will be able to face these public health challenges
