News: Congolese Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde participates in the fifteenth BRICS Summit in South Africa
The Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, traveled to South Africa to participate in the fifteenth BRICS Summit. Representing the Congolese Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, the Prime Minister’s mission is to convey an important message during this meeting of emerging countries which represent 40% of the world economy.
Accompanied by the Minister of Industry and senior officials of Foreign Affairs and Finance, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde responded to the invitation of honor addressed to the Congolese Head of State to expand the BRICS bloc to new members and thereby creating a counterweight to the G7 and the G20.
During his stay in South Africa, the Congolese Prime Minister will have the opportunity to meet various Heads of State and Government interested in the natural resources of the DRC. He will also present the opportunities offered by the country’s special economic zones to foreign and domestic investors.
In this context, the Congolese Minister of Industry, Julien Paluku Kahongya, went to Pretoria to meet the Japanese company “UD TRUCKS”, specialized in vehicle assembly. Following this meeting, the Japanese company expressed its interest in settling in the DRC and benefiting from the advantages offered by the country.
In addition, a memorandum of understanding with a timetable was signed between the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa, thus strengthening economic and political cooperation between the two countries.
The BRICS Summit will also bring together other prominent political figures, including Brazilian President Lula da Silva, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
This fifteenth BRICS Summit is a major event that will provide an essential diplomatic and economic platform for the Democratic Republic of Congo
