“The Democratic Republic of Congo supported by the French Development Agency to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals”.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has just received funding of 2.4 million euros from the French Development Agency (AFD), to support community projects. This sum will be distributed among the foundations selected after the pre-selection phase. The objective is to promote the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by accelerating the implementation of social projects related to biodiversity, climate, youth, gender, employment, human rights or even the access to essential services such as water, electricity and digital.

Indeed, the call for partnerships is aimed at French or local foundations, which work in close collaboration in the implementation of a project led by civil society organizations, operator foundations or social and solidarity enterprises. . The relatively recent decision aims to mobilize funding from the two partners for local projects.

The projects undertaken must have a duration of 36 months and their amount must be between 200,000 and 500,000 euros. All countries are concerned, but special attention is given to projects in the DRC, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Haiti, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritania, Niger, Central African Republic, Senegal, Chad and Togo.

AFD is recognized for carrying out projects of general interest, often in the social field and ensuring that it does not serve private interests. Currently, the call for partnerships is open since May 30, 2023 and the closing is scheduled for July 4.
