The role of the Rapporteur of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Patricia Nseya, in the electoral process in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to grow in importance. After her supervision mission in Haut-Katanga, she went this time to Tanganyika, more precisely to Kalemie, to supervise the operation of reception and processing of candidatures for the provincial deputy and for the election of Councillors.
The objective of this mission was to ensure strict compliance with the operating procedures of the CENI and to coordinate ongoing operations. In a statement to the press when she got off the plane, Patricia Nseya stressed the importance for independent candidates, political parties and political groups to submit their lists of candidates earlier, in order to allow the CENI efficiently process all cases.
Beyond her supervisory responsibilities, Patricia Nseya also raised the issue of the security of CENI materials and agents, stressing the importance of the support of the provincial government in this area. This concern is essential to guarantee the smooth running of the elections and ensure the confidence of the actors in the electoral process.
During her visit, Patricia Nseya met the provincial authority, Julie Ngungwa, with whom she discussed several points relating to the organization of the elections. This meeting testifies to the collaboration between the various stakeholders to guarantee the transparency and credibility of the electoral process.
In summary, the presence of Patricia Nseya in Kalemie as part of her supervisory mission for the elections of provincial deputies and municipal councilors demonstrates the importance given by the CENI to the proper organization of the electoral process in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its role of coordination and guarantee of transparency reflects the commitment of the institution to ensure free and fair elections
