News: 300 to 400 books ready for delivery as part of the Local Development Program in DR Congo
As part of the Local Development Program of 145 territories (PDL-145 T) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), between 300 and 400 structures have already been completed and are ready for delivery. This was announced by Patrick Muyaya, Minister of Communication and Media, following a meeting of the Steering Committee held on August 17, 2023, under the leadership of Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde.
According to the Minister of Communication and Media, the PDL-145 T Steering Committee has noted a positive development in the basic infrastructure works. Despite some difficulties, particularly in certain parts of the East, all the agencies managed to launch the work. To date, between 300 and 400 works have been prepared, out of an expected total of 1,200 schools, 500 to 700 health centers and 145 administrative buildings.
This assessment meeting brought together several members of the government, including the Minister of State in charge of Planning, the Vice-Minister of the Budget and that of Regional Planning, as well as the Ministers of Finance, Health, Vocational Training and Water Resources.
These concrete achievements under the Local Development Program bear witness to the efforts made by the DRC government to improve basic infrastructure and contribute to the development of the territories. The inaugurations of the works already completed will be scheduled in the coming days, while the other components of the program continue to be put in place.
This progress in the local development of the DRC is a positive sign for the future of the country. Investments in basic infrastructure are essential to improve the quality of life of citizens, promote access to education and health care, as well as strengthen public administration at all levels.
The construction of these structures within the framework of the PDL-145 T testifies to the DRC government’s desire to implement effective local development policies and to promote balanced and sustainable development throughout the territory. These initiatives will help to strengthen the capacities and well-being of the populations in the territories concerned, and to promote the long-term socio-economic development of the DRC.
The continuation of this work and the implementation of the Local Development Program for 145 territories opens up new prospects for the DR Congo. They demonstrate the government’s commitment to investing in the country’s future and to making the DRC a key player in development in Africa
