News: CENI warehouse in Kingabwa, Kinshasa, ready to accommodate electoral logistics
The President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Denis Kadima Kazadi, recently visited the warehouse under construction located in Kingabwa, in the commune of Limete in Kinshasa. The function of this warehouse will be to store all the equipment necessary for the country’s electoral logistics.
This visit enabled the CENI to assess the progress of the work and to observe the quality of the work carried out. The President of the CENI expressed satisfaction with the progress made, stressing that in just a few months, a great deal of work had been done to set up a warehouse that complied with international standards.
With a storage capacity of 5,000 m3, this warehouse will benefit from a fire safety system to guarantee the protection of electoral material. It will also be equipped with training rooms, offices, space for conferences, a garage and accommodation for CENI staff on mission in Kinshasa. A printing press will also be set up.
The CENI warehouse in Kingabwa constitutes a major acquisition for the institution, being the first warehouse of such a scale since its creation. With approximately 25,000 m2 of space, this warehouse will be able to accommodate all types of equipment necessary for the organization of elections across the country.
At the same time, the CENI received 13 new boats capable of transporting a ton of electoral material, awaiting the imminent arrival of 6 other boats. Lifts were also acquired to facilitate the handling of the material.
This inspection visit and the progress of the work bear witness to the CENI’s commitment to providing itself with quality infrastructure to ensure the smooth running of the elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The inauguration of the warehouse is expected in the coming weeks, marking an important step in the preparation for the upcoming elections
