“SICOMINES and DRC: a winning partnership for the respect of social responsibility and the improvement of living conditions”

The Democratic Republic of the Congo and China have signed several partnership agreements with the aim of strengthening their bilateral cooperation. This cooperation notably includes the Sino-Congolaise des Mines (SICOMINES), which is committed to respecting its commitments in terms of social responsibility. SICOMINES has developed around twenty projects with a direct and visible impact to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants affected. Since the signing of the specifications with the local communities, several projects have already been launched, such as the construction of a technical school in Kapata, the agricultural mechanization project or that of support for corn producers, as well as various rehabilitation of roads and dykes.

Thanks to the work of SICOMINES, the living conditions of the populations concerned have changed significantly. The inhabitants now have access to drinking water thanks to several boreholes, thus offering positive prospects for the future.

This Sino-Congolese partnership also demonstrates that SICOMINES is committed to complying with the law and assuming its social responsibility. Thus, this mining company respects the recommendations of the Chinese government vis-à-vis all Chinese companies present on Congolese territory.

In short, the Sino-Congolese cooperation represents a good example of taking charge of social responsibility in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This partnership also strengthens bilateral cooperation between the DRC and China for common and sustainable development.
