Exile of Corneille Nangaa Yabeluo: the call to end the situation in Kinshasa

In a surprising turn, Corneille Nangaa Yabeluo, the former president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), announced his exile for security reasons. Accusing the power in place of chaotic management and attempts to hamper its freedom of expression, Nangaa appeals to the international and national community to put an end to the situation in Kinshasa.

Nangaa, who had proclaimed Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi as President of the Republic in the December 2018 elections, has now taken a stand against the Head of State and wants him to leave quickly. According to him, as long as the current leaders continue to manage the country with so much lightness and risky decisions, the Congolese will risk losing their country.

The former CENI official says he has not been safe in the country for several months, after having his close guard removed. He believes that these measures foreshadowed worrying events, referring to the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of General Kahimbi and his friend Okende. Nangaa claims to have been threatened and that he preferred to take the decision to go into exile to ensure his safety.

Now, Nangaa urges the Congolese people to sensitize the international and national community on the situation in Kinshasa. He describes the current management as “catastrophic” and calls for action to be taken to end it.

This exile is part of a tense political context in the DRC, where tensions and uncertainties persist. Nangaa’s resignation raises many questions about the stability of the country and the ability of the current government to ensure security and peace.

It is essential to closely monitor the evolution of this situation and to keep abreast of the actions taken by the international and national community to respond to the concerns raised by Nangaa
